My darling Fran:-
Well honey
its bed time but its never too late to drop my darling a letter especially
since I received two from you today dated May 9th & 11th.
I’m glad Althouse remembered us and came up to see
you. What company is he working for and from what town does he work? Next time
you see him give him my regards. He’s a pretty smooth talker
so don’t let him talk my honey into going out for a few drinks because I
don’t exactly trust that bird. I finally got the “Record” today dated Mar. 29th,
just a little late but nevertheless its home town news. It had a piece in it
about you receiving my cablegram that I arrived in Tokyo. It would have been much better had you
left off the “Pvt.” because I’ll probably have a hard time explaining to people
back home that I was on civilian status. I finally have some pictures for you
at last. They aren’t too good but if you look hard enough you’ll be able to
make them out. I have written on the back where they were taken. I wish I’d
hear from Bill B. and he’d send me the pictures we took while we were together.
This morning I went out to M.G. to pick up supplies. This afternoon Paul, Mike,
and myself went to visit an old mine to see if they might have anything hidden
in the mine but it was caved in in a couple of places
and the one shaft we went in was thick with gas so we didn’t find anything. It
was sort of a spooky place and let me tell you I had my hand on that old .45
all the time, those Japs are pretty sly and I don’t trust a [edited for

to see a movies but unfortunately the projector broke down and we didn’t see
any. They were going to show “Rhapsody In Blue,” I
hear its very good. Honey you said in your letter I should keep telling you
that I love you well don’t worry I’m never going to stop telling you because I
really do love you and I mean every word of it. I love you more than anything
in the world and I’m never going to stop loving you. Be a good girl and wait.
Give my regards to your mother & dad, Geo. & Blanch, and all our
friends.
With
all my love,
Your honey always.
