My darling Fran:-

            Just finished my bath so before the boys get me in a bridge game I’ll get my darlings letter written. Started for the office this morning and couldn’t get the jeep started so Mike and I fooled around until after 10 trying to get it started but to no avail. We I did get to the office I had a letter from my darling dated May 10th. Had word at the office that we all had to report to Takamatsu for our pay as they aren’t sending checks anymore. Well right after dinner Tanaka, Mayer, Carlos, and I took off. It takes about 2 ½ hours by jeep going all through the mountains the scenery is beautiful but its a pretty tiresome trip. Darling I had to take my pay as they paid me in yen but I was broke and I owed some that I borrowed to get my raincoat so I hope you won’t mind. I’m going to make some arrangement to have it sent direct to you as I don’t want to take because I haven’t any use for it. This pay I just received was still Pvt. pay but I hope from now on they will pay me as a corporal I received $31.00 (465 yen) this pay. While I was in Takamatsu the mail came in and I had three more letters dated May 13, 14, 15, and a card dated May 13th from my darling. Darling the card certainly was nice and it really fits the situation quite well. I can’t send you any such cards because I don’t think any one around here knows what a greeting card is. You asked me several questions that I had previously answered but I guess you haven’t received them as yet. I’m glad Geo. finally got moved as thats certainly a headache. I received a letter from Jim today, thats Lt. T., he’s presently going to school and is very much bored with it as he’s already been through the same thing in the states. School finishes June 1st. He’s trying to get in an Operetta thats going to tour Japan and if he succeeds he’ll be released from CIC, if he doesn’t he wants to come back here. He left a package here for me to mail to his girl in the states so I guess I’ll better get it off before he returns. Well tomorrow starts that lonely week end, dear I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say I miss you. You know how lonesome you feel well I feel just as bad if not worse. I know you love me and I know you’re true to me but believe me darling I love you just as much and I’m just as true to you. You want only me and I want only you so I don’t see why we shouldn’t have a wonderful life together. I’ll prove to you when I get back that I love you more than anything in the world. Honey you don’t have to worry about any more good bye’s because when I get home I’m not leaving anymore unless my darling is right there with me. Of course if I should go back to the cabin a day or two for hunting I know my baby won’t object, or will she? Well dear I’ll be back again tomorrow night so be a good girl and remember your honey loves only you – forever. Give my regards to your mother & father, Geo. & Blanch, and all our friends.
