My darling Fran:-
Well darling the old postman visited again today. I received two letters from you dated May 16th & 18th also one from mother and a short note from the Lt. (Jim). Dear I’ll really have to give you some tutoring in bridge when I come home because my darling can’t be winning “booby” prize all the time. I have learned to play a pretty good game of bridge, I should because thats all we do is play bridge. Just as soon as we come in for dinner and it isn’t quite ready we quick set down and start bridge as soon as we finish dinner we finish the rubber and its the same way at supper time. Honey I don’t know what to say about my pay from now on because they have discontinued paying us by check. If I take my pay in “yen” there isn’t any post office around to send a money order so I’ve decided to red line my pay, in other words when pay day comes I won’t be around to collect it and it will just accumulate until I’m ready to come home. There’s no need for you to worry about my spending it because I won’t collect it until I come home. I’m glad you’re banking as much as possible. Don’t worry about my income tax, they may decide to cancel it until I get out, I hope. Sorry to hear they are making a terrible site out of the old home but I suppose they look at it from the expense end of it. You claim darling I never told you who does our cooking. We have a Jap women and I might say she is pretty good. She’s examined by the medics so she’s also clean and free of communicable diseases. Honey you claim to be waiting for a package from me, well I told you I got you a few things but we haven’t the facility for mailing here so thats why I’m holding on to them. I’ll be looking for the package from you dear. About sending soup, no don’t send it, about the little cigars, yes send some more you might also send me some shaving cream (brush), more papers, cookies, and anything else you’d think I’d like. Honey how about one favor, take about an hour of your time and a couple of dollars and go down and see Glen L. I’ll have my own room with a desk and my darlings picture would certainly help towards brightening it up. Will you please do this at once? Wrap it well between two heavy pieces of cardboard and mail as soon as possible. You can make this an early Christmas present to your honey. I’m glad the hospital found everything satisfactory with my dad. Haven’t done anything all day except to work on our bimonthly report. Some of the boys are at the office now finishing it up because it must go out in tomorrows mail. Tomorrow being Memorial Day we are having the day off so I suppose we’ll just lay around and sleep. Well dear by the way your letters sound my honey loves me and I might say I’m not the least bit doubtful about it because you’ve certainly proven to me that you love me. Darling I love you just as much and in case you’re in doubt I’ll prove it just as soon as I can get myself home. I love you more than anything in the world and always will. I never want anybody but Frances. Don’t worry dear we’ll have a happy marriage together-forever. Mother told me in her letter that Pud B. was there to see them and was going to look you up. Boy I’d certainly like to see him. send me his address so I can write him. Well dear I guess I’ve given you the low down on everything and I tried to answer all your questions so until tomorrow night be a good girl for Eddie and keep writing everyday. I promise to be good for my honey, remember I love only you and want only you. Give my regards to your mother & dad, Geo. & Blanch, Joe, Cliff, Bill D. and all our friends.
With all my love,
Your honey always.
P.S.
Don’t forget the favor I ask you.
