My darling Fran:-
Well darling how’s everything with you. I know the letter I wrote this morning was rather a hurried one so tonight I have plenty of time. Mike and Jim are writing alas so outside the radio its very quite. I certainly hope those nerves of yours have straightened out and your back is OK- because I have enough to worry about thinking if I’m going to get home by Jan. without having to worry that my honey isn’t well. If the slightest thing happens to you go to the Red Cross and tell them you want your husband home. They would probably laugh at you but don’t take any of their [edited for content]. After I wrote you today I went out and made a couple of contacts to get some information for our bi- monthly report which has to be in the mail by Friday. Of course I was over to the house a couple of times to see how things were coming as they were still fooling around doing odds and ends. Tomorrow we intend to finish our moving including the office so it will be a relief to get it over with. I was just telling the boys I wish you were here to make the place more like home, you could also fix things up such as put up pictures, put some flowers around, drape the curtains properly then it would seem a little more like home. We had supper at the hotel tonight and after supper the four of us rushed right over here to the house and started play-
ing softball, after we finished playing ball Jim gave us some exercises they we ran one lap around the outside of the park by this time we were pretty well sweated up so we had a nice hot & cold shower and now we really feel the nuts. We have all vowed to start taking some exercises because we are becoming very soft and fat from doing nothing and you really feel a lot better after you do a little something. It will help harden us up. We had a fellow come down from Takamateu last night just to take our order for P.X. supplies because since the battalion at Wada moved out we haven’t been getting any. You know “yours truly” he ordered four cases of beer and two cases of cokes along with our cigarettes, candy, and soaps. I’m looking patiently for your package, I’m sure there’s some nice things in it for me. I can’t think of anything I want you to send me although I could use my bedroom slippers but then its just something extra to carry home. I told Tanaka while he’s in Tokyo to buy me two sets of pajamas because thats what all the boys lay around in at night. Yes darling Paul and I are the only married men in the detachment. About this fellow Mike I talk so much he’s a single fellow, 28 years old, lives in Rochester NY. a very nice boy and very much in love with some girl back home. I have sent you a couple of pictures of him so you can see what he looks like. Today we got a list of pro-motions and its really good so, your proud honey is a corporal, there were some of my friends on the same list that were made corporals, among them are Bill B, Cookie, & Struve, you have heard me speak of all these boys. In about another month I’ll have to start bucking for my Sgt. Stripes. I’m not necessarily interested in the stripes but darling you know you can use the money. Honey if we only have enough to get a good start but I know I’ll be happy because I an-ticipate a fairly decent job so I hope I’m not disappointed because I’m sure it will make my honey happy and then she can quit work forever and we can have what I’ve always wanted, a baby. Darling in case you’ve forgotten I love you more than anything in the world and ALWAYS will, I won’t just Fran, I’ll assure you we’ll be one of the happiest couples in Stbg. so darling don’t ever cheat and I promise no cheating and we should be awful happy. Well darling don’t forget your honey is coming back, the sooner the better, so just be a good girl. Give my regards to your mother & dad, Ges & Blanch, and all our friends. I love you honey honest I do. Please don’t forget my picture.
With all my love
Your honey always.
That boy on the bureau gave you a big kiss so you’d better return it. Darling send me two more books of stamps and another writing pad (air mail), thanks.
