Thurs. afternoon

My darling Fran:

Looking closely at the date my dear you will see that another month has past so dear its one full one to go then I’ll jump to answer the phone every time it rings with hopes that they’ll say “Chester you’re due in Tokyo tomorrow so lets hubba bubba.” Believe you me darling its not going to take my long to get moving because by the end of the month all my clothing will be packed and ready to go. Darling I’m really getting anxious. I can just visualize my honey meeting me for the first time in about one year. If that won’t be like heaven that I don’t know what would be. Honey I honest and truly love you and I hope there isn’t any doubt in your mind. I know from past experience that my honey loves me so if you only feel the same way everything will be fine and dandy. Last night Henry and I went out to the battalion about 8 o’clock sat around with Dye(sp?) and Arthur W. drinking until 9 then we saw Jack off then back to the mess again for some more “scotch.” Came home rather early had something to eat then off to bed. Its been raining all day so both Henry and I have been doing some work, that is getting reports ready. I have to go to Takawatsu tomorrow so I’ll probably stay over night so I can have the other jeep serviced. I suppose Cap’t P. will give me the usual sales talk about taking the warranty, but darling its too near time for me to be going back to my honey so I’m not really interested. I’ll probably get home and see how upset things are at home then wish I had signed up but that remains to be seen. I’m bucking for another stripe which will make me a staff sergeant then if I decide to stay in I’ll be one of the top 3 graders which enables me more privileges than an ordinary buck sergeant. I still have the cold hanging on so one of these nights I’m going to bed with a hat liquor and lemon juice, then I’ll bet you I sweat it out. Bill E., the dentist from the battalion, took off for Tokyo last night so it looks like I’ll be having my teeth fixed back in the U.S.A. Well my sweetheart I’m sorry I haven’t said much in this letter but at least I’ve written you. I did tell you that I’m in love with you, more than anything in the world so darling please let that sink in because I mean every word of it. You’re my honey and my only honey—always. Give my regards to your mother and dad, Geo. and Blanch, and all our friends. Be a good girl and keep writing. I’ll be with you again tomorrow.
