Dearest Mother,
Received your grand letters
and the news also the 1st. Gosh thanks. Tomorrow I get paid $41—I
hope. Your dollar will get me another book and thanks so much.
Mrs. Covonoyer
baked a loaf of bread for me and I had it and strawberry jam I brought from
home. I gave the fellows each a piece—boy, it was good. That lady can cook.
I am going to school planning
what to say and how to say it. It is firm and interpreting. Lt. Commander
Hayworth called me into his office yesterday and wanted to know who I was. He
evidently has been looking over my record. He just asked about my experience
and verified my statements. Also, looked me over. I guess he wanted to see what
I looked like. He said I would hear later from Lt. Schooler
and I don’t know what it is all about yet. They probably found out of my
education in my Service Jacket.
Well—The Navigation course
will be over in about another week. I don’t know enough about it yet to pass so
I have lots to learn.
The cops
scene did not do so good in Smithfield. I wonder if Joe picked up the
pocketbook.
I must get to bed.
Love
Aldie.
P.S. I got your Jay Ce o-gram Mitty.
Boy, that was a thrill to get that. Thanks so much for
getting all those signatures; it was great and a thrill to hear even a word.
