Dear Jack,
Well
kid, I hope you are still alive and in top shape. Honest, I haven’t heard from
you in so long that I don’t know what to think. If you are mad, I can’t imagine
what I’ve done. I hope you just haven’t taken time to write me, but will cross
my fingers for the future.
I
did get your card before you left for Florida (how was it?) I suppose you are
back now. Where were you and what did y’all do down there?
I
went on a house party with the Y.W.C.A. this week – end to Swift Creek. Gosh,
it was short but wonderful. We made plans for next years’ program, went
swimming twice, hiking and of course ate. I picked up a little sunburned, but
it was worth it.
I
wish you could have been here the week-end of May 2 &3rd for our
May Day Celebrations on Sat. Two friends
of mine from home came down for the occasion. We started with a tea; then went
o U. of Richmond – Will. & Mary track meet; next May court and play; May
Pole Dance, Booths and Puppet shows; games on green; Freshmen supper; Freshmen
lantern parade; and last but not least May Day co-Ed. Whow!
What a day. I saw Jeanne and Ed walking around in the afternoon and just wished
it could have been about two months earlier. Oh well, that’s a small selfish
matter.
When
will you finish your ground training? Are there any chances of you coming home
on leave before your air training? Oh yes, how are you coming along? I bet you
are the head of your class and are going to make one of Uncle Sam’s best
pilots.
Per
usual, I’m in Convocations now. Miss Woodfin (Hist. prof here on leave this year) is
speaking to us and I should be listening but I just had to write in hopes to
get a reply, at least one to explain why I haven’t heard in about a month.
Please! Yes?
This
summer I’m either going to be a camp counselor or help Uncle Sam at home. Most
likely the latter since Pop wants me to stay with them awhile.
We
have our finals in our track meet today. So far I’m still in the basket-ball
throw. Placed 2nd in the preliminaries but just
luck if I do anything again today. Cross your fingers and I’ll heeve.
Thanks
for the letter I hope to receive lots of luck.
Love,
Ruth
