My Darling, August 13, 1942
Well now that everything has quieted down around here, I guess it’s alright for me to write a few lines to my sweetheart. I would have written last nite but I had to go to the hospital to see Florence. She is getting along fine and is supposed to leave today.
Did I ever tell you the Boss’ son is going in the Air Corps? He is a Lieutenant in the regular army now and I think he loses his commission when he joins the Air Corps here. I’m not sure about it. They are sending him to Maxwell Field and I think he plans to be a pilot.
Your friend, Sweeney, was in yesterday but I didn’t get a chance to speak to him. I was so busy at the time. Do you ever hear from him? I guess he will be going into the service before long.
I just sold two $1000.00 bonds and it sure does make my little heart happy. We cannot sell too many to suit me.
Well it’s coffee time and I’ll have to stop now. Write soon if you can and and lots ‘cause I miss you lots and I ain’t joking.
Love,
Bessie
