Dearest Jack,

Lord knows when I’ll have time to finish this, but I’ll start it here at work. ---

Oh hold the line I must start to work. See you later.

Tues. night

Well I’ve just finished packing and I’m off again tomorrow for another good time. This time I’m going on my high school sorority house party leaving tomorrow at 5:30 P. M. and coming back Sunday. Then I’ll work two weeks more and off to school on the 13th or 14th.

I suppose you got my card from Douthat State park week before last didn’t you? Gee did I have a cool time. It rained quite a bit, but you know me. I wouldn’t let a little rain stop me from having a good time. My brother came up for the week – end from V.P.S. to join the family. They are putting the bee on them like they are to you. This Army stuff is really pushing y’all along. I guess they don’t want the war to be over before y’all get in.

Remember betty Clement, Brooke Moffett’s gal friend? She was in town yesterday. Wanted me to come down this week-end, but couldn’t make it because of the beach.

I got the saddest news this morning. Hollie isn’t going to be my roommate this year. She’s going to stay in town and be a day student. I’m on a limb now- two weeks before school starts and no roommate.

I think that’s swell about Ed and Jean especially since she wasn’t coming back to school. If they get married soon do you think Ed will go back to school?

Honey, don’t let me hear any more of this quitting stuff. Don’t you know they can’t get a Coffman down. After all you are still hanging on and that’s more than all of them can say.

I guess you don’t exactly know what’s what, but will you be in Richmond on leave in the fall as you said in your letter before last? You better had or I’m going to be awfully disappointed. I’ll need you to help me yell Richmond on to a Victory.

By the way, Brooke Muffett is joining the Naval Air Corps. He will be your rival now. I guess they will be a lot of the fellows not coming back.

I’ve got some more letter to write before going to bed, so I’ll end this scribble now.

Keep your chin up and keep plugging.

Write me soon, cause I too love to hear from you.

Heaps of love,

Ruth

P.S. Ann Clark wrote me that Frank Crouch is married to a girl up north were he was stationed. Imagine that.

Night now,

Ruth
