                                                                                                Tuesday

Dearest Herb:

I just received your letter which you wrote on December 15th just a few days before you were injured again.  I sure hope you are feeling better by now.

Yes your Mom has told me about that nurse and I feel from the way she has wrote your mother when she found out you were injured that second time, I know she must be pretty nice.

Ralph and I were looking at some pictures we have and we found that one you and Bob had taken working on that old Ford you had torn down to win that big race I think at Auburndale.  Remember?  Also the time you two went watermelon “stealing” and you got such a terrible sun burn.  Do you have trouble getting cigarettes?  The lady down stairs her son was a 1st Lieutenant on a “bomber” and he has been taken a prisoner of Germany.  His mission was over Meresburg, Germany.  The War news sure sounds good tonight.  Well Herb, I will write again in a few days and may have news from Bob.  I saw a news reel from the Mindora landing and it was really tough.  Am anxious to hear how you are and know your Mother will let me know as soon as she finds out.  We will sure say a prayer for you.

                                                                                    Love,

                                                                                         Aunt Della

No doubt your Mother has told you about Uncle Herman being given a life time membership in the American Legion.  It is the first time any on from W. Haven ever received it.  It was for the one that did the most of the post – Herman is good.  He sure seems happy at your folks.  Who don’t though?  We sure did every time we were there.

                                                                                    Love again.

And don’t forget that “furlough.”
