Diane dearest,
This
morning on arriving at the office I was overjoyed to find a POST CARD from you.
The twenty-five words contained thereon (including the signature) were really
welcome. The only trouble being that I couldn’t understand what you were
talking about. What are you doing in Abeline at the
I could
almost put all my news on a past card also (but I won’t, I’m too nice) for although
there are tings stirring in this area nothing has happened of note. I wanted to
get a little package off to you on a plane to

one more month gone by and now only three to go before I have a chance
to get that leave and get back with my dearest for a good stay. I have
mentioned a number of things to you about that but have had no return from you.

I love you so darn much that everything else really comes in second.
I am off to
Darling mine sit thee down and write me a nice long letter and answer some of my questions and what not as soon as you can. Oh yes George is going back to the States (Washington) in another day or two for a month or so. Some kind of a meeting. He is tickled. Boy don’t I wish that it was me. You would have yourself a train ride to make old girl.
Well loads and loads of love sweetheart. Lay off the POSTCARDS

P.S. Just received a letter from “Doodles” I was almost afraid to open it. All it was, was a one sentence letter including a copy of a letter from Gen. Giles in D.C. on my going to the staff college – said to submit my application – and I would get easy censeduation – Well
