Dear Nick,
I received
your letter a good long while ago. I am sorry that I didn’t write to you
sooner. I was sick last week I nearly had the pneumonia. Hoffman was down to see
me this week and he showed me the letter you sent him. I want you to forgive me
for not writing. Have you had any snow yet down there in Virginia? We have had
some pretty good snow storms Hoffman is working in a funeral parlor do we kid
him about it. Nick here is some of the pictures I and sending you. I thought
they were read food the one of you is real food I thought. What are the picture
you have had in camp since we have left I mean Movie write and tell me the
movies you have had in camp. I would like to see the camp you said they have
changed the wall lockus. I bet there is a big change.
I am glad to hear that you got the tool room and I hope you get rated. Has Bennema wrote to you yet? I have
asked him to write several times but I don’t know how to get him in a writing mood.
I bet you feel the same about me too. Nick you haven’t heard from me for a long
time. Well Nick what is Santa Clause going to bring you for Christmas? (Haha)
What do you want? A Canteen Book? Oh I forgot to tell
you I saw a Christmas parade on was it cut for a little boy like me I wish you
was there to hold my hand Nick (“sniff, sniff”) “oh” this is getting to
romantic isn’t it nick I might get you crying reading this letter. Well nick I want
to wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and the best of luck.
