[May 14, 1941]
Dear
Nick,
Received your letter this morning
and you can believe me when I say I was glad to hear from you, why I can even
go as far as saying that it was an honor after not hearing from you for so
long. I have very little time to spare
so I’ll try to write a lot in a few lines.
I had a letter from home and they’re already through digging the cellar
and every lady is fine, I’ll answer their letter tonight. Theirs, I’m sending mom 3 pairs of shoes and
some other of my things, maybe she can let them lay
around or make rugs. I have a coal
that’s ready new so I’ll send it to her next week.
Bill, came
to see me but his leave was shortened to only 36 hours. We had a grand time. We went to the movies and out to eat and we
went to visit one of his married friends.
He brought me flowers and lapel locket.
The reason I like Bill is not because of his looks, he is the grandest
fellow and also a gentlemen and that’s something you don’t find after in
N.Y. Bill told me that any time you go
to Washington, you should drop him a card and if it’s possible he will meet
you, as a matter of fact he’s looking forward to it, try to make it soon, on a
Sunday if possible, then I’m sure he can get away. This is his address: Pro. Wm.
Hohman Q.M. C. Det. Fort Belvoir, Va.
I had a letter from Pee Wee lately
and he told me he was down to see you and also that he had a swell time.
The weather here is nice also, as
you paid in your letter, I don’t get out much to enjoy it. Did I say I’ll write a few lines, well I
guess my time is up and I’ll have to serve supper so I’ll be saying so-long
until I’ll hear from you, so please don’t take so long to write this time, or
you’ll have me believing that you forgot your one and only sister.
Hoping this letter finds you in the
best of health.
Love,
Your
sister
P.S.
