Wednesday
Eve.
My dearest
Nick:
I couldn’t hardly wait for Esta to
hand me your letter for I knew I’d have one. I didn’t get one this morning, but
knew I’d have one this evening. Honey, I can sleep with contentment whenever I
hear from you.
Congratulations, dear one, even if “Acting
Corporal” doesn’t mean anything to you, I sure am proud of you, my dear. I’m
proud to be in love with you, honey, and I’ll always be proud.
Darling, you do have the right idea
of Branch 4. We carried away the honors and now they have one missing clerk. I
have been taking off on account of being ill, due to all these inspections. I
hate them.
I’m happy to know that you like the
Army, dear, wouldn’t be bad for one’s life career.
Dearest Nick, will you ever let me
know what your plans will be for Christmas. Can you find out? Please let me
know. We have the 24th and 25th off and two extra days if
we want them. Please, dear, let me come to see you.
I will have a large picture made, dear, and
have one sent to you.
Guess what I did today. I slept all
day. I didn’t go to work for I feel weak. Ann will be home late tonight.
The Dorm was very quiet, since I was
the only individual in the building. The Party is tomorrow night, I’m excused. I
don’t care to attend, dear. I want to sit up in bed and write up and down hill
to you. I mailed two letters to you this morning, hope you like them, honey.
Gosh, dear, it is very bad that you
can’t get a pass. It does pay to be patient. I love you, dear,
I can’t be patient with you so far away.
Darling, you ought to see the corner
by my bed. Santa surely made us a visit.
Esta went out with a saint. I’m so
satisfied, dear, being in love with you. I haven’t dated anyone since you left,
dear, and I’ll stay that way. But when you get a pass, I will have a date with
a fellow whose initials are N.D Are you going to be jealous of him? I am very
true to you, dear; I love you with all my heart, and am saving all my love and
kisses for my “Acting Corporal.”
I borrowed a book called “Above
Suspicion” and I have finished it. Very good book.
Dearest Nick, please let me close,
dear, for I’m very sleepy. I’m always sleepy. It’s nine o’clock and I want to
fall asleep and be better for tomorrow. So, honey, I send you all my love and
kisses and may you be very happy. Good night.
Lovingly
yours, Rose
