Friday Afternoon

My darling Nick:

I’m sitting up in bed and using the ironing board for a writing table. Honey, I’m all ready to leave this afternoon. Oh, honey, I’m all excited. I’d be very, very excited if you were coming. Honey, I may be back in a week or two weeks. I visit all my friends and I’m sure I’ll enjoy myself. Oh, honey, I love you. I sent a Western Union [telegraph], darling, saying happy Easter to you.

Honey, my daddy will go to the post office and a letter I’ll get from you. Honey, you ought to see my valise. I got one of my new valises with my initials. It’s lonely, honey, so lonely. I’m taking my camera and my sister and I am going to take pictures. Honey, I won’t be able to write tonight for I’ll be on my way. I’ll dry a few cards to let you know how sleepy I am. Honey, wouldn’t it be nice if we were going to see each other for Easter.

Darling, I’m going to miss you at home. There won’t be any memories there. I always miss you, dear, no matter where I go or am.

Honey, your Easter card is lovely. Thank you, dearest Nick, very, very much. Honey, what are you doing now? It is two o’clock now, oh, yes, dear, I’m not working today, gosh dear, I feel good and happy today.

Honey, I dreamed that I was home last night cooking for my mother. Honey, I can cook, did you know, honey?

I had a call from Estas and she wants to go, but can’t. Honey, I got a two dollar bonus for our accountability at the store.

Honey, I love you so, so much, let’s have a date tonight, tomorrow night and each and every night from now on.

Honey someone is singing “Beautiful Dreamer”. It’s one of my favorite pieces.

Soon you will have a furlough and we will be together. Honey, it’s lonely out today. A day to be out picking wild flowers. Oh honey, I can’t hardly wait until May. I don’t know what I’d do if you don’t get a furlough. Darling, please don’t worry about me this summer. I’ll be alright, my darling, I love you and love you. How can I go out with anyone else? It’s you that I want and will wait and wait, Summer or no summer, dear, I’ll always be true to you. Oh honey, the feeling I have from you is so wonderful. I just want to be in your arms and just to be loved and I kissed by you and you only. For we belong to each other, dear, and we are so so in love with each other.

Honey, I’m taking my winter coat home and have it placed in storage. Honey, my new spring coat is navy blue and I like it very much. You will, too, honey.

Honey I wrote to you Friday night. We left the PX [post exchange] around 10:30 and I took a bath and wrote to you. Honey, never have any thoughts about my dating for I’m very true to you. I love you, my darling, the letter is held up somewhere and you will get my letter, honey.

Darling, are you going to the movies tonight? Oh darling, I usually get very bad thoughts. Honey, it’s about being transferred out to California or some western state. My dear, my dear, it hurts whenever I think about such things. I’m lying on my bed writing to you and how I wish you were here beside me. I’d stay writing and cuddle up close, dear, for I love you.
