Thursday night
Hello Nick,
Received
your letter and was glad to hear from you. I had a letter from Rosie last week,
and I was sort of sorry that she had turned down my offer about coming to live
with me [;] the two of us could have sort of kept up each other’s morale. I
hear from Chas everyday but I guess from now on his letters will be limited,
because tomorrow he leans for parts unknown, there is no use of me taking it
too hard, because that certainly isn’t going to keep him from going. I only
hope that when this mess is over, he will be one of the boys coming back.
Right
now we’re having a thunderstorm
Jim,
that’s Chas’s sisters husband just took the car to have it inspected. I don’t
use the car too often, since I’m not allowed to do any traveling these days,
that’s one reason why I can’t take a trip home, that and my gas. I only get a
certain amount.
Pee
Wee was over to see me about two weeks ago. He came in with one of the bus
drivers.
I
spend a good part of the outside with Shirley. She walks swell in the house [,]
but if you let go of her hand outside she stars to cry. She’s afraid to walk
outside. She tries to say everything I do, and she also throws everything she
gets her hands on down the toilet.
I
guess I’ll close my letter for now because of this storm, the lights keep going
out.
The best of everything to you.
Love,
Anne
