My Darling Nick:

It is going to rain, dear, for the sky is full of black clouds and the wind is blowing a nice breeze. Shirley Ann and I just got from the playground. We are fine dear, the baby is a good baby, honey, and only cries when she is hungry. Shirley Ann is jealous of Patty, she loves to watch her and wants to lie down beside her. Ann is feeling better dear, only she is weak. How are you, honey? What are you doing this evening, honey? I wish I was with you honey. I love you, darling, with all my heart. I miss you very much. I had your letter today darling, and it was lovely. Helen wrote to me too, dear, which I will forward to you. Anna has a letter from Geo., dear. He has a new APO.

Is John still in the hospital, dear? I imagine you will go over to see him, won’t you? Did you work hard, dear? Did you have any classes, honey? Honey, did you hear anything about moving west? Darling, I love you with all my heart. Honey, none of Charles’ people came down to see me while Ann was in the hospital. One came down only if she wanted something for Ann as the mail, otherwise she wouldn’t come down. As I told you, darling, none were too anxious to help her. Virginia helped Ann the most, went out to her see, the others forgot her. As soon as she is better she’s going up to the mountains, but not well enough to go home. I’ll tell you someday, honey. Please, honey, this is only between us. Shirley Ann is a honey, dear. She threw kisses at me today, honey. I love you, honey, so very much! It’s nice and quiet here, lover. I only wish that soon we can be together always. I was working the puzzle this afternoon, honey. Shirley Ann slept from 12:30 to 1:30, honey. That was good for her, dear. My brother John will be home from Georgia, dear, in the middle of August and I want to see him, for Lewis is driving home. I went to the store today, dear, to get a few groceries for tomorrow. Honey, yes, we both have our minds set on a certain thing. Oh, honey, I want you. I love you, my most adorable lover, I love you with all my heart.

I took a good bath today, honey.

Don’t worry, honey, everything is fine with us here. Ann and I have lengthy discussions on pregnant mothers, babies, etc. It’s all interesting to me and I’m learning how to bathe a baby, feed, make formulas, and etc. I love it, honey. I want a baby too, dear, like you. I love you, my darling, with all my heart.

Take wonderful care of yourself, lover, for I love you always, and want you well. I send all my love and kisses to you, honey. May God Bless my husband. Goodnight lover.

Lovingly Yours,

            Rosemarie

P.S. I love you, truly, oh honey, I wish I was with you this week – and – I love you and want you. Goodnight, honey. Sweetest dreams, dear, and sleep well. Kiss me goodnight, honey, in your dreams. I love you, sweetheart.

Dear Rose Marie,

Sorry to have neglected my writing but this past week I haven’t been feeling so well. I have a bad cold plus my period is coming up in a week, it’s late anyway.

I was at Lewis last night. It was his birthday. We had a nice dinner. Olive got Lewis a nice shirt and socks. He worked so Alice and I walked to and fro from Wilkensburgh.

Heard from Ester, but no one else, and I hope you are well. How are Anne and the babies?

Hope to see you soon. Mary saw Alice in town and spoke to her. She gave her two dollars and so did I. I’m giving mama five dollars besides. John writes that they will be home about the middle of August, so we plan to go home together.

I’m going to try to go to school this far. I’m fine, happy, and contented.

Give Nick my best regards. Hope he stays on this side – I guess the war won’t last too long.

Well, I guess I better close, hoping to hear from you soon.

Love,

            Sir Helen
