Sat. Nite
Dear Folks,
I guess by
the time this letter reaches you, several of the family will be at “home,” so
consider this a letter to all of you!
I imagine
by now that you surmise that my Christmas furlough didn’t materialize and you
are right! I never could get a train
reservation, so didn’t care to try it without such luck. I’m a little disappointed and yet I expected
it. Guess I was quite foolish in turning
down a chance the 9th, but such is life !?
Guess I should never have written you getting your hopes up too much and then
letting you down, but I told you it was very indefinite. From now on I’ll inform you when it is
“official.” At present I don’t see how I
can get off before the middle of February, but again something unforeseen may
come up and I can leave earlier.
