Dear Mother,
We just had
a mail call but I failed to get a letter.
The last dated from anyone was December 19th, so guess I will
have several in soon. Today is a
beautiful day with a nice cool breeze.
The first pretty day we’ve had in some time. It has rained lots lately. We sat through a movie the other night in a
pouring rain, but faired very well with our ponchos. Last night I saw “Casanova Brown” with Gary
Cooper and it was real good. We have
been quite excited over the invasion of Luzon
and it came as quite a surprise.
Frankly, I thought I’d be in on that but again we have escaped
such. We may be fortunate; still they
may be saving something worse for us-you never can tell. We had all the fried fish we could eat last
night and it really tasted good. We have
them about once or twice a week-if we catch them! I see in the news this AM that another blizzard
is hitting the W.S. Seems like you are having lots of them this year, aren’t
you? I guess you are getting repaid for
that pretty Fall?!
You must be with [edited for content] this week and having a big time I
know. You’ll have to write me all about
it when you can. Feeling fine but have a
light cold.
Love
Russell
