Dear Sis,
Probably
I can think up enough to fill this whole page, at least I always have. I don’t
remember if I’ve written since I last heard from you or not but it doesn’t make
any difference anyway. I’ve been in the hospital three days now and have
several more I know. I’m here to get a complete physical examination and if the
doctors have found anything wrong so far they haven’t told me. I feel fine but
they make me stay in (or around) bed all the time, but it isn’t so bad laying
on white sheets, a mattress, and a springs and pillow again!! Alas, the “lady
nurses” are very nice to me and it’s quite nice to see and hear a lady (white)
again! The food is nice too and they are trying to fatten me. I’ve even quit
smoking without too much trouble or regret and intend to stay “quit” this time!
I’d rather you didn’t tell mother I was here until I find out if there is
anything serious the matter with me. There is so much out here in these jungles
that is catching and you may have it and never know it. I’ll let you know how I
progress. Really, I feel fine and am hoping nothing is wrong! Hope to
hear from you soon.
Love
and all,
Russell
