Dear Mother,
Here in the
hospital, all I have is v-mail or I would write a longer letter, but as I write
often this way, I get everything “said” anyway—I have just finished reading the
ten letters I received this AM, the first mail is over a week old, and really
enjoyed all of them, especially the three from you. I’m really glad that you are enjoying your
visit with aunt F. so much and I know how you two get a big kick out of each
other. Also it’s nice that you are getting to see some of the others and hope
you’ve gotten to see Conas Lulu by now. I trust it
has warmed up some by now?
I’m still
feeling fine and had another x-ray made two days ago and the Doc said my lungs
have much improved and healing up right along. It has been terribly hot the last
four days during the “sunlight” hours and was very uncomfortable lying in
bed. Today is rainy and pleasant so far.
I had boiled ham for dinner last night and often we have, watermelon—the first
I’ve had since I joined the army! They
really throw the food at me and I must be gaining! It’s rather disgusting to feel as good as I
do and then have to stay in bed all the time, but anything to get well!
Love,
Russell
