Dear Father,
Thank you very much for your letter.
I’m sorry that I must have made you worry about me from my previous letter.
I’ve received your letter written by Ken-chan and pictures from my childhood. I thought you may have not written the letter and that made me think you are severely sick and can’t even write a letter by yourself.
We owe Ken-chan a lot since he has been taking care of our family. Because Ken-chan is staying at our house taking care of everything, I’ve been able to serve for our country with my best. I am thankful for that. Please thank Ken-chan for his trouble serving his labor work at the Uji Shipyard as well.
I apologize that my wife and the rest of my family must have given you lots of trouble. I’ve heard my son, Takeshi, has grown. I’m happy for that. Please treat him favorably.
It’s been colder and windier here these days but it was warmer last night. I have no complaints staying in this place except insufficient water supplies. I’ve received various souvenirs from my fellow soldiers recently. They are from their hometowns and are very unique. We’ve started getting comforts from the army lately so we periodically receive stuff from Japan. However, they never taste better than GOSHIKIMAME.
Goodbye.
