5-P.M.

Dear Dot and Dana,

I received the rings all right this noon. They fit O.K. I thought they did a very good job on them. Thank your mother and father again for me.

It was nice of them to buy such a nice present for me. They gave us the morning off so the boys that wanted to go to church could go. I didn’t go as I had some washing to do and write to Edie. We had classes this afternoon and one tonight. They taught us to tie knots.

I’ll teach you some nice knots Dana, when I come home. It is awful hot here today, hotter than any day we have had at home all summer.

We had a nice dinner today. Turkey, dressing, potatoes, celery, peas, tomatoes, bread, butter, and coffee. Not bad huh? That was the first time I have had turkey since I have been in the navy. Got to go to chow now, just got back from class. It was about boats, all the different parts and how to use them. There is an awful lot to learn. I doubt if I ever learn everything, but my officer likes me and he said he would do everything to help me. He also put me in charge of my tent. So you see I can still boss a few guys around. Ha. Now Dana if you still have to have vapor rub put on you I don’t want you to fuss anymore. If you want to be a sailor you can’t do that. I have got to shave and take a shower now. Lots of love and kisses,
