Dear Dot and Danna,

Just a few lines tonight as I am busy studying for a test tomorrow. I haven’t got much time as the lights go out at ten.

This is liberty night and all the other guys have gone to town except me and another fellow, which is sick.

This is a long and important test, wish you were here to help me with it. I know a lot of the questions and am doing my best to learn them.

I got a letter tonight and your dad’s card. I take it he has been fishing, have you or Dana been with him yet?

It has been a nice day today. I was on work detail all day today. We went out in the country about ten miles after a load of small logs and the driver couldn’t find them and it took us all day to get one load. We swipped a lot of oranges on the way and weren’t they nice and sweet and juice. I saw a lot of orange groves I’ll bet I ate a dozen of them. Well Dot, I want to get back to my studying now.
