Hi darlin’,
Here
I come with no news again, just lots of love. Am listening to the news now and
it sounds better every hour. Our boys of the British 8th Army are
stirring up a little action up north, and the Russian advance on Vienna is good
news to all Airmen. Hear that Moscow announced the capture of Wiener Neustadt - the last target I bombed.
Darling,
I know I shouldn’t be asking you, but did you receive the orchid on Easter
Sunday? I sent an order to Swineford’s Florist in
Richmond, and asked them to have it there on time. However, I have no way of
telling if it ever reached them. Do you remember Jane Swineford
at Bellwood? Well, the florist is her father-in-law. Also
sent one to Mother.
There is a movie
playing at the club tonight, but I decided to write you instead, and go to bed.
It’s an old one anyway, “Home in Indiana”, but I didn’t see it. Am due to fly
lead again tomorrow and put in my 30th mission. Hope the weather
permits.
Gallagher has been
running around to other groups seeing some of his friends, today. Just wanted
to tell them he has finished and make them all jealous, I think. He certainly
is restless since he finished. Know I will be, too, for I’ll just want to rush
home to you. He is going up to Rome before he goes home.
Well Dearest, I’m sorry
I have to write such short ones lately, but not having flown in about ten days,
I just can’t find anything else to love, you with. I’m sure you know that I’m
always thinking of you, missing you terribly, and loving you with all my heart.
All my love, Jimmy
