Dearest Mom and Dad:-

Received both your very nice interesting letters yesterday and so glad to get them. Am still busy showing the movies each night and so I am writing this afternoon as I don’t have time in the evening.  As soon as I finish this letter, I will get on cleaning the projector.  It sure can get dirty quick. I hope a small screen is in the mess hall so I can have the shows in there when it is raining.  The last couple of night I have had them outside again.  I like the job and take a big interest in it.  Have had some real good pictures and some more good ones are coming up.  I like the projector but the amplifier on sound isn’t very good and I can’t get enough volume out of it.

It sure has been muddy here all the past two weeks but is drying off some now.

The Salem Hardware sure has been in there hands a long time. To bad they had to sell.  But I guess the Simon boys are pretty old now and not many left now.  Hope the new people make a good go of it.

Gosh you had better keep “Putsie” in or he will get sick.  I bet he is really pretty with that big fluffy tail and thick fur.

Hope your job doesn’t get any harder Dad as I hate to think of you having to leave and get another one. I don’t suppose jobs are very plentiful now.  Sorry you didn’t get a letter but I try to write real often but it seems that there isn’t anything to write about.  Today Freeman and I cleaned out the trailer.  It sure was a mess as it has been so could in it that we couldn’t stay in it very long.  It looks pretty nice now.  The counter and narrow shelf that runs the length of the trailer by the drawers is made of “Masonite” and so we rubbed thin oil on it and it really makes a big difference.  It takes all the scratches out and cleans the grease and dirt off.

Well Mom I try to make all my letters interesting but it is hard to do when there is not much doing.  I have been trying to catch up with my diary and get it all typed up.  I have 33 pages done so far and I peck away at it each day and now as I enter each day I type it so in that way I will soon be caught up.

Gee Mom that is swell that you bought all those bonds. I am proud of you both and know you are doing all you can to help win this war.  I hope and pray that it will be over soon.  I get so lonesome for Myrtle.  She is so sweet and good to me.  Yes I am well satisfied with the way Myrtle is taking care of the money.  I trust her and it is a big help to me to know that she is doing so good.

I keep telling her all the time not to be afraid to spend what she wants.  I told her to keep some out so if she should see something nice for the home to get it.  She told me in one of her letters about the cute little houses she saw while out walking with you.  You know Mom and Dad that is something I have always wanted, a nice cozy little home with a dear wife to come home to.  I am so glad she is that way.  Also very happy that you both like her so much.

Mom it isn’t a locket I am making Myrtle, it is just two pieces of Plexiglas with a French coin in between the two pieces and then they are stuck together and I cut and formed it in the shape of a heart. O.K. Mom I will make you one if I can get some more Plexiglas.

I would like to have been there to see Myrtle eat that corn head. I like it to a little ha ha.

Well here I am at the end again and nothing more I can write about.  Give all my friends my regards.  If you see Henry or Goldie tell them I am running a movie projector here.

I am well but so lonesome for you all.  Be careful and please write again.

Loads of Love from your loving Son,
