Dear Mary and all:

A few lines to let you know that I’m still here in England well and getting along fine.  I do have a cold but that isn’t anything unusual because the climate is ideal for colds out here.  We just came back from Bristol where we played for our division football game.  Our division won and it was a good game.  It was well played and most of the players played on big teams back home.  Our trip there and back wasn’t so good as we went by truck and it took 14 hours each way.  I was plenty tired when we got back and I also had a sore rear end.  General Montgomery was here to visit us not so long ago and we played for him. He came over to where the band was and seemed to be a swell fellow.  He made everyone feel at ease.  There is a dance tonight but I don’t know if I’ll go or not.  Well my space is just about gone so I’ll close for this time.

Love to all

Roland
