Holland

Dear Mary and all:

Haven’t had a chance to write you much lately but will drop you a few lines to let you know I’m still in Holland, well and doing fine. Hope this finds all at your home in the best of health. Received two v-letters from you and enjoyed them a lot. Received the chicken and it was very good. It came through in very good shape and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t even take time to fry it but instead just wiped the grease off and ate it cold. I like it right well here in Holland but would much rather be home. The people here treat us very well and I’ve made some good friends. Holland is so much different from what I had it pictured to be and it’s very modern. Not many wooden shoes are worn here but they do have windmills. We are living in a school now and even though we slept on the floor it’s much better than sleeping in a hole. It’s much colder now than it was and is very damp. Quite a few people here can speak a little English so we can get along right good. I can’t understand any of this Dutch though. Will have to close for this time. Hoping to hear from you soon.

                                                            Love,

                                                            Roland.
