Dear Mary and all:
Received two V-letters from you today and very glad to hear from you and know that every one at home it alright. I’m well and doing fine and my cold is about gone. Have been on the move a lot lately and been kept very busy. We are quite a ways in Germany now but still have a long ways to go before the end. It’s not much left standing after we go through and several large cities I’ve seen in just a pile of debris. We are staying in a large apartment house at present and it is a very modern place. This must have been a very nice country in peace time as everything is very modern that is what is left. The people were well off as it’s plenty of food stored away in all the cellars. Sent Russell a machine gun. Let me know if he gets it. Lots of souvenirs around. Must close for now.
Love,
Roland
