Dear Mary:
Many thanks for the lovely birthday greetings I received from you today. I hope next year I can spend it in the good old U.S.A. Have been over here a long time and if I don’t soon get back I’ll have to take out citizenship papers. Having a spot of rain today but lately we have had some swell weather. Warm and nice and sunny. Was back in Holland for a day last week and had a swell time. The friends I have back there trust me like one of the family. Took the sirloin mother sent me along and they fixed it for me. It was realy fine. It’s a long ways back there now so I don’t get there often. Want to get back again before I get home if possible. Must close for now but will write more later.
Love,
Roland
