(Father’s Day Card)
Dear Kenny,
Harold
wants to write you soon when he has time (and inclination) to think out a good
letter. He has been working pretty hard, including some overtime and several
Saturdays too. It helps the check, and incidentally our dental bill. My work is
all done except for one more gold foil. I surely have a mouthful of dentistry,
but Dr. Drake seems to like us and is doing his best by us; irregardless of the
time it takes. My work looks nice and so does Harold’s and Dr. Drake says it
will last.
We think Douglas is surely a fine boy, and a very interesting
baby. The thing I first noticed was his inquiring look. He lifts his eyebrows
and forehead and looks all around. It is the cutest mannerism. He seems to be
unusually alert. He certainly grew the three weeks he was in Town. He seemed
like such a little baby when Claire came, but on the way back he seemed older
and sturdier. I think the exercise and “wooling” around he got in Griswold did
him good. Harold surely wants him exercised so he’ll develop every muscle. Ha!
He seems to be very normal two – wets piles of diapers. He wanted to take a
picture of Claire in front of her clotheslines’ of diapers, but she wouldn’t
let us.
We are
having terrible floods in the Middle West.
Probably your mother will write about them.
Sincerely,
Nola
