Dear Folks:

I am on duty again tonight so I will try and drop a few lines. It was a very quiet day all around and nothing very much happened. I received two letters from Tom in the past two days, letters he had written in France. He told me all about his trip over and I was glad to hear from him. Tom always writes nice letters and I know how hard it is to find anything to say. But he never forgets to send me a line whenever he gets over to this side of the ocean. One of the letters by the way was written while he was on the ocean and it was Dennis’ birthday. It is too bad that Tom couldn’t have been home on that day. Tom is getting to be a very good typist and didn’t make even one mistake on his letter. I remember when he was Corporal Hand in Fort Totten and he used to have to type out the payroll when he would come home.

I’m still feeling fine and have no further news as to where we are going, if we go anywhere. I got the Bronze Star today which will give me 5 more points. So I have 68 now. Still not enough to retire on.

                                    Love,

                                         Joe
