Dear Charles:
I
was so glad to hear from you because I lost your address on the water wrapper
and I wanted to thank you for sending it to me. I was glad to get it because I know
Russell thinks a lot of it and I wanted to have it fixed and ready for him.
I
was also glad you told me the things you did. It helps to hear from someone
else that he is alright. I hope he gets home soon so he can see the baby.
I
hope you don’t have to go right back into it again. I don’t know if after a
leave you have to go right back or not. Russ doesn’t tell me too much but I
suppose he can’t. I’m first thankful he is alright anyway. I send pictures to
him of the baby all the time so he will at least know how big he is.
I
received a letter from him Friday and it didn’t sound as though he will be home
for a while. He has the job of acting chief now because a fellow from
Connecticut is coming home and he’s taking his place.
I
want to thank you again for sending the watch and I’m sorry I couldn’t have
written to you sooner to tell you I had received it.
Sincerely yours
Mrs. Sparling
