Dearest Gay,
The party
is all over. Am I ever glad. It turned out real nice,
I thought. Gloria really got some nice things. I don’t believe I ever told you
what I bought her, did I? It was an ivory-colored water pitcher to go with her
set of fiesta dishes. She seemed to like it real well. Mom gave her a silch(?)
coffee maker. She also got another silch(?) coffee maker, but it isn’t quite as good a one as mom
gave her. She really got a lot of nice things. Some of the ladies played pinochle,
and the others played bunco. Your mom got the first
prize at bunco. I was sure glad she did. It was a
handkerchief. For refreshments, we had angel food cake with pink frosting,
vanilla ice cream, and coffee. I’m really glad it is over. I was sick all night
and have been all day. I feel a little better now. I stayed in bed until 10
this morning and laid down again from one until four,
so I feel better. I think I was just worn out. Evelyn Baker wanted me to take
care of her baby today while she went to a funeral, but I had to call and tell
her that I just couldn’t. Oh yes, we heard from Kenny yesterday. He is in
Lots of Love from your Doe.
