Dearest
Gay,
It is
thundering & lightning tonight as I think we will have a big storm pretty
soon. Remember how scared I used to be when it stormed in Kentucky? Well I still am scared but you
aren’t here to keep my mind off it. The baby has been real good today. In fact
he has slept practically all day, ever since his bath this morning. I’m afraid
he’ll decide to stay awake all night. He has only kept me awake 2 nights since
he came home. I don’t know whether you will be able to make sense of this
letter or not. Mrs. Falmer must be giving Jackie a bath & they are really
having a time. Sounds almost as good as that one night that you & I were
parked on the drive & listened to Mrs. Falmer give Mr. Falmer a lecture
when he came home late. Boy, those were the days. Jane came out with your folks
tonight and she was pretty blue. She got a letter from Jerry today & he
says the war won’t be over until 1948 and he won’t be home until then. I told
her not to even think about anything like that. I got a letter from Elva Blaser yesterday. She said Sam had been in the Admiralty
Islands for awhile, but is back in New Guinea again. She said to
extend their congratulations to you. I got a gift from her today. It is another
one of those nursing bottle holders. I had received one at my shower. I will
have no use for them because Dr. Wegner said I should always hold the baby when
giving him the bottle. It was nice of her to send me such a nice gift anyway.
It is really hot & sultry right now. Guess I will close. I sure do miss
you.
Lots of Love, Kisses, & Hugs
from Your Doe & Your son Tommy
