Dear Mom,
This is your Corporal again. Just wanted you to know that I received the package you sent to-day, and just like always you filled it to the capacity. Honestly tho’ it is swell. I guess the fellows are full of sweets as there were only a couple who took some. Don’t worry though, they’ll be around. Just give them a day or two and they will get knawy. I can’t keep those kind of articles in the Barracks, so I’ll take it over to the Print shop. There are no restrictions on that - that I know of. Everything arrived in perfect shape. Not a single box was broken or mashed. Tell Dick I thank her for the box and the shaving outfit. I can always use those things. So again, I say, thank you very much.
Here is a bit of the very latest news. There will be 250 German prisoners at this base beginning on the31st. So now I’ll have to guard along with other duties. Why don’t those heines give up. They can’t win. Oh well.

The weather is cold. I never liked this kind of weather. My face and [hands] are chapped. I keep putting Vaseline on them but when night comes they are rough (my hands) and my face is sore and stinging. Other than that, I’m all right, and still going along in my best stride. Now, until a later date, I’ll say goodnight and once more, A HAPPY NEW [YEAR] TO ALL.
Your Son,
Norman Lee
