My dear folks
I’m receiving your letters regularly and I certainly enjoy getting them. We get no greater thrill here, than when mail call is sounded. I can’t understand why you haven’t heard from me. I wrote several letters on the boat and I’ve written quite a few since I’ve been here. I’m pretty busy and I don’t have too much time to write, but don’t ever worry. Just know that I’m ok and keep the home fires burning. I believe that air mail is faster than v-mail coming this way. I received an air mail letter from Lenore that was just 7 days old which is not bad time. I’m well fed and warm and pretty clean, so you see I’m not doing so bad in this war. Lenore sent me a picture of the baby, but as yet I haven’t received it. She also sent a cablegram for my birthday, but is has not arrived either. I certainly would enjoy some cheese and crackers and some candy, and a fruit cake. HA!
Your son
