Darling:
We just got orders today that we
were picked as the first company to go into action. My heart sort of sunk for a
minute but darling that is the only way we can get the war over. Honey, I hate
to leave you, you’ll never know how much I love you. I miss you terribly please
try and keep your chin up honey, I will do the same, it’s pretty damn tough
though isn’t it darling. We are definitely going to Europe or South
America. I don’t know where nor does anyone here. I don’t think we
will see any combat, so I don’t think you need have any fears. The weather is
pretty warm up here and today is very warm although the nights are very cool. I
got that front tooth filled yesterday the dentist had quite the time of it. He
had to cut a notch in the tooth to get the filling to stay. Darling when the
next check comes through gets your final will you honey. I won’t feel so bad
after we get started, but it is hell waiting. Honey, I so wanted to see you
once more but God has willed otherwise and he knows best. Do you know I haven’t
had any letters for two whole days. Darling I see you are going to keep your
promise and not write until you get a letter, I don’t think that is fair
because I feel sure they are holding up our mail and I can not help that. Darling,
do you realize what a terrific strain I am under right now and you don’t
realize what not getting any mail from you means to me and increases the
tension on me. Honey it might take months for a letter to reach me in the very
near future, yet mine might reach you in a few weeks. Bear with me darling it
is not my fault. Honey in case this is the last letter for a while, remember me
to the kids and everybody, write soon.
With all my love,
Rol
