Dear Elva:
Your last news letter came ok
yesterday I’ll try to explain why I haven’t been able to meet the boy friend I
know just where he is etc. but my duties have been in another direction am
hoping that they may change so I can get to see him soon. there are quite a few
of the boys near by, some I’ve seen and others write me often Charlie A. wrote
me yesterday after advertising for me in the Stars and Stripes which I
announced no we do not stand too much on formality here, a few weeks ago I met
one of my old Sgts from Middletown and we spent about ½ day together you know
complaining notes news etc. Creighton M. is nearby and we meet quite often and
exchange letters and newspapers. in fact Conn is very well represented all
around am indeed glad that Ty is back on the job and that Dad is busy hope he
makes a million. he deserves it. as for me I am well and disagreeable as ever
my pals say so anyway. have everything I need. we are able to get all kinds of
smokes thanks for the offer but it’s difficult we move around a lot and can’t
carry much. I’d tell you is I needed anything. dont worry. take care of
yourself.
Your friend
John.
