Dear Elva,

Your pack of letters containing clippings came today and in one was a note about sending more if I would write you about them heres the dope: they are fine and do help keep me posted on local events and I appreciate your effort on my behalf very much. It’s true that moving about as I do mail is very uncertain APO numbers to me mean very little, so there are times when I receive no mail for days. Its one of those things which cannot be helped so don’t worry. Another thing I feel that you are too busy is make if a duty to send the clippings as a regular task so lets put it this way id like to have you send then when convenient for you but don’t make it a task please. I note that the GSO is quite active and it’s a good thing. I know it doesn’t look like much sometimes but the boys will look back upon it from here with more and more appreciation, again I have not been able to find your friend but do enquire when I am where I think he might be. Ill meet up with him sooner or later sure as the devil. Lately ive heard from Chas ____, Robert ____, and Jackie ____ we don’t seem to be able to meet even though we are not too far apart. I did meet one of the men from the State Guard not long ago he comes from Middletown and was any? Bn Sgt Mjr up there we had a grand time together. I also saw Creighton ____ from Saybrook about a month ago he is fine and likes his job very much. The war news are very encouraging today so maybe it wont be long now. Lets hope so anyway tell mother that she can make a blackberry shortcake and eat it for me remember how they used to grow back of the Town Hall.

Thanks Elva for your efforts in my behalf I really do appreciate the clippings. Remember me to all the forks. And best of luck to you.
