Dear Elva:
Well, Well, so you have gotten home again and done some howling huh, watch your step kid who is the girl friend anyway do I know her or not and why is she afraid of me hell nobody here is and I can really dish out the old high hat surly act and get away with it the ones who are close to me in the command call me (Happy) the E.M. in my Co under their breath call me the (Old Goat) but they are all good boys and will do anything I ask willingly the upper echelon call me Hitler because they say I rule like him, well god knows I have to. But under it all I’m just a country boy away from home tell the girl friend to tell papa all about it. now to business I read yesterday and today Register from Dec 11th to Dec 28th about 9 packages of them and have been reading them between breaks all day I must say there have been many changes but so far no dangerous ones. You evidently are kept very busy with the G.S.O., Library, Church and Family. Well its better so at least it’s a big job and no one is better qualified than you I’m sure so keep it up Elva. I feel indebted to you for the paper it’s an expense and a trial, but an appreciated one don’t become a slave to it though. I just realized that it’s possible that I forgot to write Mother and thank her for the X-mas pckge but I think I did please let me know if I didn’t and if it’s true that I failed pass on to her my expression of gratitude and I’ll write her a pleasant letter, Thanks for all the favors and good luck to you and your Children and bye. Yours John
