Darling,
Again I hit the jack-pot. Not on letters this time but on packages. Yesterday when the orderly brought back the mail he was loaded down. It was all old mail. Received 2 packages and 1 letter. The letter was on Jan. 14, letter that Mom had sent when we were back at Claiborne.
The package contained candy and is it welcome. I certainly admire and enjoy your selection. Everything I like, the only trouble is that here it is a race to consume the candy before the ants get it. They are everywhere.
I finally got a line on a watch that might be worth buying. I know I have asked you to send me one but it takes so long for packages to get here that by the time it arrived I hope the war will be over. Also if I can procure a fairly decent one now to tide me over I can always sell it when and if I get one from you. My old watch is back at another jewelers for repair. This time it is costing me $18 and is going to take 3 weeks to fix. I have little doubt but what it still won’t be worth a darn when they get through with it this time.
Well How, I hate to write such a short letter but being short on time shall have to close. Give my love to our family.
All my love,
