Darling,
Here it is another Sunday & another attempt to grind out one of those Sunday letters you like so well. However Hon I am afraid the attempt is doomed to meet with a miserable failure this time. Am so darned blue & lonesome that anything I try to do seems to turn out right.
Do you
remember how things were when we first came back to the bivouac area after that
wonderful time we enjoyed in
Finally bought myself a wrist-watch the other day and find it to be pretty satisfactory to date. They are almost impossible to find here but it was managed. It is a Swiss made service watch & is plenty good enough to bang around over here with. Supposedly shockproof, waterproof, not-magnetic, etc. Also got my other watch repaired but don’t know for how long so bought another to be on the safe side. Realize I have already requested that you send me one but if you get this letter before you have purchased it you can forget about it. On the other hand if you have already sent one I can always sell this one as they are a scarce item. It only cost me ps. 85. However even that just about depleted my financial coffers. Money goes faster here then it did in Alex!
Darling there is quite a bit to tell you but due to censorship regulations I unable to figure out just what I can say. Thus I shall have to wait until I can get things straightened out. So look for a more interesting letter one of these days.
Have been informed by your letters & the families that my wife is getting brown as a berry. May I say Sweetheart that your old man has amply gotten his fill of black babies! We have them here in all sizes & shapes & in endless quantity. I beg of you don’t get too dark. All kidding aside Hon I bet you are cuter & more lovely than ever. I sure do adore you.
Well have run out of words for now so-
With all my love
P.S. I’m terribly sorry this letter isn’t up to par.
