Dear Brother!

Unfortunately it is a little late to write you a letter from vacation to tell you about the wedding that has taken place in the meantime.  I already wrote you a card from Lauthental, but you probably haven’t received it.  Am I right?  So don’t be mad at me and break contact with me, because if you were to marry during a war, and if your vacation were 4 weeks like mine, then you would discover that you would have no opportunity to write a card either.

Now about my vacation!

Today it is over.  It is 11 o’clock and in three hours my train departs.  I was very lucky with my leave.  I originally had 21 days.  Then I received another two days and then in addition a 5 day extention.  I came on vacation (leave) September 12 and then on the 17th I got married.  We wanted to invite Thea and I was convinced that I had sent her a telegram.  I was therefore surprised when mama arrived alone on the 16th of September.  I tried many times to reach Thea in the Wilke-Werken by phone, but they said that they didn’t know her.  So as an alternative, I called Thea twice in Braunschweig.

We went to the Courthouse the morning of September 17 and by noon we had already begun the honeymoon in the Harz mountains.  In spite of the war and the limitations imposed, it was pretty and I can recommend to you, if you ever have the chance, and if the circumstances are right you should do the same.

And now I leave again, tomorrow or the day after I fly by plane von Orschatz (?) to Russia.  We are located just outside of Stalingrad.  I am counting on the fact that our troop will return to Germany within the next 4-6 weeks.

Now I will close.  Greetings I send you from Isle and Mama.

Heinz

P.S. Recently, I have written you 3 or 4 letters, without having received a response.

I received a package and cigarettes from Thea today but no letter.
