Dear Mom,
I went to church today at 9 o’clock and then after that I went over to the P.X.
I wear my money belt during the day and put it in my locker box at night. That was tough about Jimmy losing his money and watch.
We had mail call this morning but I didn’t get a letter.
This evening we are going to the show—the whole platoon. You should see our hut now. When we came in here they issued us a long piece of rope and I didn’t know what it was for but I do now. We have rope scattered all over the hut and clothes on them.
Today for the second time since I’ve been here I’ve worn my green trousers and shirt and field jacket when I went to church. All the rest of the time, we wear our dungarees.
Write soon, even if just a little bit. I would rather get a small letter every day than 1 big one.
With love
Your son, Joe
