Dear Mom and Dad,
When I woke up this morning it was pouring down rain. We wore our leggings all day long. They keep your pants legs dry. This evening we packed our nap sacks and our blankets and put our cartridge belt and bayonet on and marched about ½ a mile to some tracks and they brought us 8 miles to the B.A.A. rifle range. We are in steam heated brick barracks. They are real nice building but we won’t be here till tomorrow evening. We fire all morning tomorrow and then go back tomorrow evening.
How is everything back home? I guess it is still pretty cold there. One day it will be warm here and the next day you will almost freeze.
How is spot these days? I guess he still likes candy.
I didn’t get a chance to thank Mrs. S. for that box of candy so will you thank her for me.
I got a “Yie” the other day and it had something in it about me. Did you see it?
Has daddy finish his trailer yet?
Well that’s about I know so I’ll stop and write to Willie.
With Love
Your Son,
Joe
