Dear Mom + Dad
We had our first mail call today and I got 2 letters from you and Dot sent me a card telling me her new address. They had gone to Parris Island then to the 51 St. and then to the 57. The last of the two letters didn’t go to P.I. It just went to the 51 St. and then here. It was the one you wrote Tuesday. I told Julia about that picture of Frank Sinatra Sunday. I don’t know how to spell it either, but if you look on some of the records you can find out. Boy I sure do mess being home. I sure will be glad when this war is over.
Well we didn’t do much today. This morning they told us how to tear a Browning Automatic Rifle apart (B.A.R.) and this evening we each had to tear one down and put it back together. I think there is a picture of one in the Red Book (Marine Manual) there at home. My red book is in the bottom of my sea bag and I haven’t dug it out yet.
When I got back here I left all the clothes you washed and starched in the little hand bag and set it under my cot. That way I think they will not get as dirty and wrinkled as in the Sea Bag.
I didn’t think about it till I got back here I was so excited over being home, but I owe Dr. Engleman 7:50 for my teeth. I owe Browns for those pants that I think I paid Mable for the pair that was cleaned up there. You can write a check for all that stuff or pay for it out of the money there in the kitchen. Also pay for the two cases of coke daddy got. I don’t know whether I told you or not but put that money up in my desk in the bank. Well I don’t know what else I forgot but I will tell you tomorrow if I think about it.
With Lots of
Love your Son
Joe
