Thursday Night
Dear Mom—
Boy have I been busy––! I have prepared and given two lectures and spent two days and a night in the Field since I wrote last–– I’m enjoying it however–– although it is hard work––
Your letters help to brighten the day––mail always does––Wish we knew where Gene is––Guess we’ll hear soon––Of course there are no mail boxes on the high seas––He is probably on patrol and hasn’t touched shore as yet––I wouldn’t worry too much about him––for I know it is not his fault that he hasn’t written––The navy always notifies parents of illness even if it has to be by radio or wireless from the High Seas––
Heard from Gus–– He’s in New Zealand and is having a fine time––Thanks too forwarding the letter–– He had just received my letter written June 9th from Pickett–– He’s been moved right much I guess––
We’ll be here for a while I guess––I can’t say too much about the outfit from now on for our functioning is military information. In Life for the 21st there is a series of pictures of an evacuation hospital which is similar to out unit except we are not quite so large and are more mobile––
I’ll write more when I can grab a moment––
So long for now––
Love
Jack
