Dear Mom –

I’ve been pretty busy for several days so haven’t had a chance to write – I’m still at the same place Went on pass for the fist time Friday night. Several fellows went with me to one of the nearby towns – we had a nice time – I’m about to leave camp now for the afternoon –

I received one letter from you but that is all – keep then coming I’ve heard from Anne twice – I didn’t tell you but when I was on pass (that 3 day pass) I told her that although our affair was fun and although I knew she cared a lot for me that I couldn’t make any promises – I had been telling her that all along but it didn’t seem to make any impression – Anne is very possessive – and you know that that is not in my nature – of course we’re still the best of friends and she still feels the same way – but she does not understand – I’m so glad of that for I want no broken hearts - I know what it did to Gene –

Have you heard from Gene lately -? I haven’t had but one letter and that was the first he wrote when he got across – I’ll write him the first chance I get –

Keep the bonds for me – Hope I’ll be home to use them soon –
