July 9th
Somewhere in France
Dear Mom-
I have
another moment to let you hear from me. Today is Sunday, and except for the
Church Service it seems like any other day. I have trouble keeping up with what
day it is, for they’re all busy and very much alike.
We’re
getting the news on the radio now from England, very good reception; it
seems odd to hear news of advances a (?) miles away. Most of the news now is
good, but the going is still tough. Our grapevine news is a good source too. I
wrote Gene McGehee last night. Thanks for sending his address. I hope he will
write me. I write Cheatham too, several days ago.
Hope you
have received the $20 I sent home from England by now. I just arranged to
have $25.00 more out of the pay I will receive on July 31st. I want
to have something to start on when I get back, and every little bit helps.
So long for
a while- Hope the mail brings a few letters today-
Love
Jack-
